Jonathan “ J Buck” Buckley
Jonathan Buckley, known by his artistic moniker JBUCK, is a Mississippi-born artist, born in
2002, whose creative journey is deeply rooted in the fertile soil of Jackson, MS. Immersed in a
rich tapestry of artistic influences from a young age, courtesy of his parents and grandparents,
JBUCK has cultivated a diverse artistic palette that extends across various mediums.
While painting serves as his primary focus, JBUCK's artistic repertoire is expansive,
encompassing the realms of digital art, graphic design, photography, and videography. His
creations draw inspiration from an instinctual and spiritual well, with the genesis of his ideas
often traced back to his dreams and the unique experience of being raised as a "preacher's kid."
JBUCK emphasizes that his art is not a rebellious act against his upbringing but rather a
revolutionary exploration of self and spirituality. His body of work serves as a visual manifesto,
expressing the intersection of his personal narrative with the broader themes of existence and consciousness.
Central to JBUCK's artistic narrative is the recurring character named "Yøu," a raw and
animalistic figure that emanates a primal energy. Far from refined, "Yøu" is rendered with a
crudeness that adds a layer of authenticity to the scenes. These vibrant compositions, bathed
in childlike colors, invite viewers into a world where the instinctual and spiritual collide.
"Yøu'' serves not only as a character within the frame but as an open invitation for the viewer
to find themselves in the midst of the composition. JBUCK's self-proclaimed self-portrait,
"Yøu," becomes a mirror reflecting the multifaceted nature of human experience, embracing
both the raw and the refined, the instinctual and the spiritual. In the vibrant and eclectic scenes
he paints, JBUCK sparks a revolution of self-discovery and introspection, challenging viewers
to explore the depths of their own instincts and spirituality within the vivid realms of his art.
